A third and final shot for today. For those who asked, this is the color version of the previous shot seen here. The sky was remarkably blue.

A second shot for today. Taken a few moments ago in a neighbor's back yard and tweaked ever so slightly. The original has a striking blue sky, but I think I like this version better.

Diamonds and Rust

(Thank you to the guest who inspired this title!)

An ice crystal-encrusted nest of grass, acorns, and leaves takes shelter at the base of an oak tree. Photographed as found. Nature is so intriguing!

More of Nature's bling from yesterday's ice storm. If you view this at XL3, there appears to be a corn-on-the-cob pattern in the ice surrounding each pine needle!

Today I'm deliberately re-posting an old daily photo from my archives. This is Miss Petunia from last August when she was a tiny kitten. John (300m) here on the Dailies and family adopted her, along with her brother Marco Polo. She's now known as Mittens. Here's a shot of her taken by John a few days ago as a nearly 7-month-old youngster.

Yesterday I made the decision to apply as an exhibitor in one of Richmond's oldest outdoor arts & crafts shows, held the first weekend in May. This is one of four photos I plan to enclose with my application -- it's a juried show. Eeek! Hope I'm not getting in over my head!

Furball, backlit by the sun, belongs to our friend and contractor who lives up the street. A strictly indoor kitty, she escaped through an open bathroom window back in May -- went right through the screen. After 12 agonizing days, she finally found her way home. She now wears an ID collar should she ever decide to be curious again. :-)

Welcome to the Big Time

This decorative pocket watch, complete with chain and fob, is quite large at nearly two feet across. It hangs opposite our south-facing back door, providing some interesting lighting and shadow patterns.

Viewed at a larger size, you'll also notice a few reflections.

Thank you for yesterday's "Daffodil Cocktail" comments! I'd planned to shoot the bloom (which yes, came from our front yard in spite of the 19 degree temperatures) but then Greycoat decided to investigate. :-)

Despite the below average temperatures (in the teens at night with wind chills in the single digits), we managed to have a few blooming daffodils in our yard.

This is the same bloom that Greycoat took such an interest in the other day.

These two were seen grazing in our neighbor's back yard. I took the photo from our deck -- which is about 75 feet away -- through the stand of woods which separates the two properties. I was surprised to see how well the grass and leaves were lit up when I transferred the picture to the computer.

Viewing at a larger size yields greater detail.

Thank you one and all for the continued well-wishes and comments. I'm better as far as the mono goes, but about the same in the gastrointestinal department. Am presently on antibiotics and should know soon if they help.

One of our ornate brass filigree ornaments. This one is of a church, complete with wreaths on the windows and door, a bell in the steeple, Santa and his reindeer on the roof, and miniature wind chimes which dangle underneath.

These are some of my favorite ornaments, due to their bling factor. :-) Looks like January may be a month for lots of sparkly, shiny things!

This lovely wreath was a birthday gift from my mother. It arrived while I was in New York so it made for a nice surprise when I got home. View at largest size for better details.

Am feeling better enough to start taking pictures again, but this session wore me out!

Thank you for all the kind comments on yesterday's "bling" photo. I'm really honored to be among this talented group of folks!
