shutterbuglady > This is Jayden, born September 11th to my wonderful hair stylist, Kelly. Here's the original photo as it looked before I got hold of it:

A friend who is rather traditional when it comes to art didn't care for this rendering, but I love the emphasis it puts on his eyes and cute mouth.

We're off tomorrow to my 3rd and final art show of the season. This one's in Greensboro, NC, a good 4-hour drive away. Should be interesting dodging all that holiday traffic.

Hope everyone has a terrific Thanksgiving!

Meet Milton, one of the silkiest kittens ever. If you view this in X3, you'll notice the fur on his face around his nose, eyes, and mouth is sharply defined; but everything else is just a blur -- and this isn't a camera trick -- he really is that fluffy!

Maddy and Morris

It's been a long while since I've photographed kittens. Tonight was our cat rescue group's monthly Girl's Night Out, this time at the founder's house. She's fostering four adorable orange & white fluff balls, including Maddy and Morris pictured here. Check out the tongue on Morris, the kitten on the right. :-)

This is my friend's daughter and husband at their wedding in July in Michigan. Wish I could say I took this photo, but I didn't. However, I *did* do the post-processing. Here's what it looked like before:

Have promised her that all 250 wedding photos will be completely processed by Christmas (she got quite a deal on them from the photographer -- raw shots only; no pp; and ownership of the copyrights). I figured by stating this publicly, I'd have no choice but to meet that deadline! :-)

Taken over the summer in Michigan, but processed today. I'm trying out different techniques. This isn't my usual style, but I rather like the effect. Doubtful that it would print well though, due to the noise.

This is Darby, a beautiful St. Bernard who belonged to a friend. He passed away this past summer, so my friend asked me to create a canvas portrait of him as a Christmas present for her husband. She provided this photo by e-mail and requested that I leave the background as-is, since Darby's favorite spot was beneath the table.

View at X3 for textural detail.

Second daily for today. Here we have Maggie again, but this time, at the request of my customer, I included her adorably curled back feet.

Here's the original photo taken by my customer:

P.S. -- Downloaded Nik Color Efex 3.0 trial version today and wow! I'll have to save up my pennies, but it will get constant use once it's all mine. :-)

Something You Don't See Every Day....

Tropical Storm Ida joined forces with a Nor'easter in the Atlantic, and this was one of the many side effects off the coast of Virginia.

I didn't take this shot -- although I wish I could have been there to see this in person, as our beach house is up the road behind this point of view -- but this gives you a good idea of just how close this 580-foot-long barge came into shore. It broke loose from a tugboat last night around 11:00 pm and drifted unmanned for 100 miles before coming to rest in front of the new Sanctuary Condos, located 20 minutes south of Virginia Beach in Sandbridge. On board are hazmats such as alcohol, syrup for soft drinks, water purifiers, and chlorine. No evacuations were necessary and the cargo and barge are both intact.

The weather experts say we'll be experiencing the remnants of Tropical Storm Ida for the next 3 days, so any shots I take will have to either be indoors, or through the windows, like this one. It's been raining steadily since late yesterday afternoon and the winds are starting to pick up. Glad we're not at the beach, as the damage there is expected to be much worse, due to the nor'easter stalling out over the coast for 72 hours straight!

A collection of ornate headstones marking centuries-old graves in Settlers' Cemetery, Charlotte, North Carolina. Best viewed in a larger size.

The Richmond Craftsmen's Christmas Classic Arts & Crafts Show opens today at the Raceway (former fairgrounds)! Show hours are 10 am to 9 pm today. If you're in the area, please come out and say hi -- I'm in booth 2220 -- the one with mostly cat-related goodies for sale. :-)
