Today's our last day with these two sweeties, as their new owners will be picking them up tonight. All of us - Mark, me, and even Greycoat - are going to be awfully lost without them here. They've given us such joy over the past two weeks. The only person who'll be happy about their absence is Daisy, our persnickety old lady cat, who's taken every opportunity to hiss and spit at them whenever their paths crossed!

shutterbuglady > September 26th, 2008 You'd never know it to look at him/her, but this little grey & white tuxedo is feisty as can be! The only way we're going to be able to tell the 3 of them apart is by their noses, which are all different: this one's nose has a smattering of brown; another is all brown; and one is plain pink. No names yet until we figure out who's what. :-) But I've had several ideas and will put them to good use once we know what we have. Oliver & Lucky found their new parents last night. They'll pick them up probably on Monday. They're really wonderful folks who are replacing two beloved 20-year-old kitties who died earlier this year. Yesterday's been the first day in I don't remember how long that I felt more like me. Thank you for all your well-wishes! It seems like they're working! P.S. -- received the cat calendar yesterday and wow! The photos turned out great, although the weight of the calendar was much too flimsy. Have reordered it but this time with premium card stock instead.

shutterbuglady > September 25th, 2008 Admittedly not my best photo, but you can't argue with the cuteness factor. :-) These are the newest additions to our kitten family. We have yet to determine what their genders are, but we know at this point that the black one on the right is the runt, and the grey & white tuxedo on the left is the protector of the group. Two volunteers from our rescue organization tried for several hours this afternoon to trap Momma, but to no avail. They'll try again tomorrow, since these babies had to be bottle fed tonight.

shutterbuglady > September 24th, 2008 Lucky's curiousity rarely wanes, even when she appears to be resting. Obviously neither Lucky nor Oliver were adopted this past weekend at Petsmart, which was good for us, selfish cat person that I am. :-) There's an interested party stopping by Friday to see them, though, and I would guess they'll be gone as of early next week to their new home. In the meantime, a new batch of kittens will be arriving here shortly, just as soon as our rescue group can trap and bring them over. These are going to be very different than last time, as they're truly feral. Should be quite the challenge to socialize them without losing a finger or two!

Turns out I have a viral upper respiratory infection which cannot be helped by antibiotics and I have to simply allow it to run its course, which is a full 1-2 weeks. Harrumph.

shutterbuglady > September 21st, 2008 Lucky basks in the afternoon sun. We're taking both Oliver and Lucky to Petsmart today for adoption. So another emotional day ahead. Sorry for not being around much lately, but I'm battling a nasty head cold/flu-type bug and so haven't felt up to commenting or even being online. Right now my priority is clearing my head long enough to breathe freely again! P.S. - Hillary, yes, I'm going to be working on a book, as well as a calendar (thank you George, Bill, et al!), the latter of which will be donated to our cat rescue group as a fundraiser. The hardest part is selecting which pictures to include!

shutterbuglady > September 19th, 2008 In honor of our favorite kitten baby, Miss Petunia is featured today, even though the picture was taken on the 28th of August. John & Brenda said she's not been feeling well the last few days, and had to spend two nights at the vet this week with a very high fever. :-( She's better now, though, and everyone was happy to be reunited. John and Brenda went out of their way to get her the attention she needed ASAP, even leaving work to do so. Thanks to them, we know Miss Petunia (or Miss Mittens as their daughter Kara has renamed her) and Marco Polo (renamed to Marco Purrlo LOL!) are well-loved and cared for. And that's worth its weight in gold as far as we're concerned!

shutterbuglady > September 16th, 2008 This is Oliver, a black & white tuxedo kitten who at 4 months old is quite small for his age. The picture was taken over the weekend at the Petsmart Adopt-a-Thon, and I couldn't help noticing what striking features he has, especially the tufts of hair in his ears and his curly-q eyebrows. The biggest surprise of all came Sunday afternoon when Mark brought home both Oliver and Lucky, the latter of whom you'll see in tomorrow's daily shot. The lady who'd been fostering them needed a bit of a break, as she had 9 cats total at one time, much like we did a while back. To quote Mark: "I figured you needed another kitty fix." :-) How right he was! We'll probably only have these two for a week or so. They're so gorgeous with very sweet and playful personalities, I can't quite figure out why they've not yet been adopted. New kitty pictures! Yay! P.S. -- I've made up my mind to specialize in close-ups of kittens and young cats. Might even take John up on his suggestion of a calendar and Hillary's of a book. :-)
