shutterbuglady > September 14th, 2008 Ebony lifts her face to the sun. She always seems to be smiling. All our babies have now been adopted. I'm still a sniffling mess as I miss them terribly, but at the same time, I'm happy to see them go to such wonderful homes. And for what it's worth - ours were the only ones adopted yesterday and the first out the door today. I take some measure of pride in that! Well, that and George's comment that I'm converting him to a cat person. ;-)

shutterbuglady > September 13th, 2008 Ivory sees the world a little differently than the rest of us. Thank you all for the comments from yesterday's picture. Tonight we came home with three less kittens -- Christopher Columbus and Ebony went to one couple, and Rocky Raccoon went to another. They were adopted into very loving homes and I'm sure will be well-cared for. And they're local, so we may get a chance to see them again (hope hope!). Oh, and both families said they looked at the online pictures and decided ahead of time which kittens they were most interested in taking home. In fact, out of the 16 kittens at Petsmart yesterday, ours were the only adoptions of the day! Pictures apparently do make a difference. :-) EVENING UPDATE: All of our kittens are now officially adopted. Ivory and Callie were the last two and they were chosen by a lovely couple this morning as soon as the doors to Petsmart opened. Thank you ALL for the sweet uplifting words. Have cried what feels like buckets of tears, both joyful and bittersweet, but am content to know that our furry children will be happy. :-)

shutterbuglady > September 12th, 2008 Rocky Raccoon is pursuing a career in business, so she's brushing up on her filing skills. Today is a sad day for us. At 3:00 this afternoon, we'll be taking the kittens to Petsmart for the nationwide adopt-a-thon event that's being held all weekend long. We'll probably come home empty-handed as soon as tonight. :-( It's breaking my heart! However, if no one objects, I'll continue to post my previous kitten pictures, since I do still have quite a few that are yet to be seen.... I've taken well over 7,000 pictures of them in the last 2 months alone. Please forgive me for not commenting lately. Will try to return to that next week. Hugs to you all ~ Betsy

shutterbuglady > September 11th, 2008 Let Them Fall Where They May When you're a sleepy kitten, you tend to fall over wherever you happen to be at the moment! This was taken beneath one of our folding lawn chairs in the vintage trailer where we house the kittens. Ivory, Ebony, and Christopher are obviously tuckered out from all that playing. Pay special attention to Ebony (in the back) who looks as if she's being strangled! But she wedged her head between the filing cabinet and lower chair rung, just as you see it here. After uploading this picture to my computer, I couldn't figure out why there were several areas of filminess on it. I later discovered that there were nose prints all over the lens! :-)

You may see more of both her and Marco Polo from me in the coming week or so. Want to share the last pictures I took of them before they went to their new home. shutterbuglady > September 6th, 2008 So you think you can dance? The spotlight's on Rocky Raccoon and Christopher Columbus, who boogie the night away. Posting a bit early. John (300m) and family just left a little while ago, with Miss Petunia and Marco Polo in tow.... I've been weepy ever since, but after meeting them, I know that at least two of my babies are going to have a wonderfully loving home. That's all we could ask for.

shutterbuglady > September 5th, 2008 Christopher Columbus flies through the air with the greatest of ease! I'm really proud of this particular photo. I've been trying for ages to get a decent action shot of the kittens and I finally succeeded. Look closely at the extra large version: not one of Christopher's feet are touching the floor - he's completely airborne! By the way, the background is our vintage 1954 Spartan Imperial Manor trailer. It's in pretty rough shape, and we'd intended to restore it so that Mark could use it as his stained glass studio. But then these kittens came along and well, it's serving a completely different purpose now!

shutterbuglady > September 1st, 2008 Miss Petunia and Ivory hang on Daddy's every word as he reads them a bedtime story. I didn't pose the kittens (never do!) - they crawled up on Daddy just as you see them here. Am still fighting carpal tunnel in my right wrist, so have had to refrain from commenting on other folks' photos... Not happy about that! But - I have huge news to share! Found out late last night that two of my original music compositions have been nominated for the Hollywood Music Awards! The event takes place November 20th at the Hollywood Highlands complex. The judging panel is made up of major film music supervisors and composers. Ever since I was 17 and discovered I could write music, I've wanted to have a piece of mine featured in a movie, so this could be the break I've been waiting 32 long years for. :-) Keep your fingers crossed!
